amphibious excavators Introduction

December 19, 2023

The excavator is an important engineering machinery equipment and is widely used in earthmoving engineering, building construction, mining and other fields. In recent years, the excavator market has continued to develop, and various types of excavators have continued to emerge. Among them, the excavator amphibious chassis has become an innovative technology that has attracted much attention, providing a new solution for the excavator's operating range and efficiency.

The excavator amphibious chassis is an excavator chassis with amphibious operation capabilities. The chassis design of traditional excavators is designed for land operations and is not qualified for operations in water or muddy areas. Excavators designed with an amphibious chassis have the ability to switch working modes on land and in water, so they can also perform tasks smoothly in rivers, lakes, swamps and other water environments.

The design principle of the excavator amphibious chassis is mainly based on buoyancy and driving force. It adopts special structure and sealing technology to ensure that there is sufficient buoyancy inside the chassis to support the floating and smooth movement of the entire fuselage in the water. The bottom of the chassis is equipped with a buoyancy plate or buoyancy tank, and the amount of water in and out is controlled through a pump system to adjust the buoyancy and sinking degree of the fuselage. At the same time, the amphibious chassis is also equipped with a powerful hydraulic drive system, which can achieve forward, backward and steering in the water by driving crawlers or propellers.

The advantage of the excavator amphibious chassis is that it expands the scope of application of the excavator and improves work efficiency and flexibility. It can handle water conservancy projects, underwater pipeline repairs, dam repairs and other water construction tasks, avoiding the traditional problem of using additional boats or building pontoons and other auxiliary equipment. At the same time, traditional excavators often get into trouble when operating in muddy areas, and the mechanical feet of the amphibious chassis can provide better support and stability, avoiding the risk of getting stuck.

However, there are some challenges and limitations associated with excavator amphibious chassis. Amphibious chassis are more expensive to design and manufacture due to the complexity of operating in water and the need for additional watertightness and buoyancy control systems. At the same time, the working environment in the water also places higher requirements on the design and operation of excavators, requiring operators to have relevant skills and experience.

Despite this, the innovative technology of the excavator amphibious chassis has still attracted widespread attention in the engineering construction field. With the continuous advancement of technology and market demand, we have reason to believe that the excavator amphibious chassis will continue to develop and grow in the future, bringing more convenience and benefits to the engineering construction field.
